Spiders and Why You Shouldn't Fear Them

If you've noticed an abundance of spiders and spiderwebs right now, you're not alone! This is completely normal for this time of year. Typically the large circular webs you see around your home are from orb weaver spiders, which are most noticeable from late summer into early fall. By now, they're beginning to reach full size and are busy creating the big, beautiful webs they're known for.
Believe it or not, they're actually one of the good guys. Orb weavers help reduce mosquitoes, flies, moths, and other flying insects. They're not aggressive, and bites are very rare. The good news? They're seasonal! Once cooler weather arrives and we get our first hard frost, you'll notice their numbers drop naturally.
If a web is across a doorway, garage, or walkway, it's fine to brush it down. Otherwise, they're just doing their best to help keep insect populations in check.
If you're seeing what seems like an usual amount of spider activity, or you're just not sure what's normal, give us a call! We're always happy to answer your questions, complete an inspect, and treat as appropriate and necessary.
